The much-anticipated governorship debate ahead of the Osun State election collapsed on Saturday after the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party failed to show up, citing security concerns, while the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate criticised his opponents for what he described as a deliberate avoidance of accountability.
The debate, which was intended to provide a platform for governorship candidates to present their manifestos and engage with the electorate on critical issues affecting the state, was thrown into disarray when the APC and Accord Party candidates were conspicuously absent.
